I really enjoyed my time as an IUKL student. The study environment was comprehensive and competitive. The lectures, especially those who taught Quantity Surveying subjects were really nice and knowledgeable in their field of study. There was more than just teaching and learning at IUKL. I got to meet my best fiends during my study and the people that I can rely on every time I need assistance. And I would strongly advise students to come and explore the many opportunities in IUKL.
I first learnt about IUKL when I met its representative at an education exhibition in Oman. There were about 7-8 universities from Malaysia, but I chose IUKL. I read that IUKL is one of the best in the engineering field in Malaysia. I went through the registration process by myself, without consulting the agent. In IUKL I met a friendly and kind staff, who helped me with all documents. After registration, IUKL provides an intduction for new students. This is a fun and informative event. There you can meet new friends and get informed about the location of the main places on campus, for example: library, labs, cafes, book-shops and so on. A new student must take part in activities, it will make your lifeon campus more meaningful.
IUKL is moving forward in the field of infrastructure, and quantitative survey is one of its strengths. The quantitative survey program is a mix of engineering, accounting and business discipline, which makes this course more interesting. For our study, we not only use classrooms, but also labs and sites-study. I like the laboratory sessions the most because of the absorbing analysis and experiments that we do. One of the advantages of studying in IUKL is the tuition fee waiver for local and foreign students, I think this is a great motivation to study hard and to receive rewards.
For me, the most important subject in the Quantity Surveying course is “Measurement”. It is a core subject which is divided into 5 parts. It provides the foundation knowledge to perform the work smoothly. I am also interested in photography and videography. I am the official photographer for my faculty whenever there is an event. Being able to divert my attention into something enjoyable, is one of the ways to release stress.
The reason I chose IUKL is because I find this university very unique. It is also recognized by professional organizations such as Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and Board Of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM). If you are choosing a university to pursue your studies, I recommend you to come to IUKL!
I enrolled into the Diploma in Geomatic Engineering programme and continued with the Bachelor in Quantity Surveying. The study experience here is fun and enjoyable. Though I enrolled into the programmes as advised by my parents, I grew to like what I was doing and I enjoyed it. Personally I am into music and I play the drums. That’s how I spent my free time during my study years.
I did have issues in coping and understanding the foundations of QS since my A-Levels was in Engineering. However, my colleagues and lecturers helped me a lot on this and I am grateful to them. A QS acts as a lawyer and an accountant in the construction field. There are a few documents that need to be prepared by a QS before a project starts and after a project finishes such as tender report, finance report etc. A QS is considered important since they monitor the cash flow of a project and they go for site visits to monitor the progress of the project.
I graduated from an IUKL Affiliate College in Kuching. The reason why I chose IUKL is because of this collaboration. It allows maximum credit transfer for my degree programme, thus enabling me to shorten my study period. The campus environment is really nice and equipped with up-to-date facilities. It also has a shopping mall which makes life a lot easier. I can get all my necessities within the campus.
IUKL has its own shopping mall within the campus ground and it is so much convenient for students. Moving around is not a problem since IUKL provides shutter bus. The amenities around IUKL are easily accessible. The new academic block provides good learning facilities to cater students’ needs
All subjects related to QS are equally important, but subjects such as Measurement and QS Practice will help students to understand and perform their job well in the future. Measurement is a core subject divided into 5 parts. It is a pre-requisite and it is essential for you to pass the paper in order to proceed to the next stage. The best part about studying QS is you get to learn and understand how a building is made and the technology they use to build it. QS is really in demand in our country, since we have started to employ foreign QS for local projects. This indicates that QS is in high demand.
Life as an IUKL student was fun and challenging. This is where I learnt to be independent and fully responsible for my study. No one can forced me or asked me to study, except my self. The diversity of students and cultures was another fun side of being an IUKL student. It taught me to be open-minded and not to judge based on skin colour, race and religion. I also got to make a whole lot of new friends over the years. I was the President for IUKL Music Club back then. I is just great to remember the good old days where we used to jam at the old café and practice for the upcoming show.
I got to know about IUKL from the internet while I was searching for an institution to study. I fell in love with IUKL from the start. I received proper guidance from the beginning which was great. The process to apply for my PTPTN loan was hassle free. The flexible payment scheme is a great help for me to pay my fees each semester.
The lecturers are well qualified and the best part is they are extremely friendly, loving and encouraging. They are not just teachers but friends with whom I can share my frustrations and joys. Not forgetting my wonderful friends that I have met here.
The Student Residency at Unipark Suria is comfortable, our safety is guaranteed and it provides everything a student needs. I am in love with shopping malls in Malaysia. I spend my free time window shopping. De Centrum mall is convenient for me since it is just a stroll away from my hostel.
