  1. How many semesters are there in a year?
    There are 3 semesters in a year, March, June and September/October.
  2. What is the medium of instruction?
    All the classes and programmes are delivered in English.

  4. What are the documents that I need to submit together with my application?
    1. A copy of your IC
    2. A copy of your SPM/UEC/O-Level Results or equivalent
    3. A copy of your School Leaving Certificate
    4. A copy of your Transcripts (Foundation/Diploma/A-Level or equivalent)
    5. A copy of your Letter of Completion
  5. How do I submit the required documents?

  6. When should I submit my application?
    As soon as possible. We will process your application once we receive it.
  7. How long is the application process?
    Upon complete submission of documents and payment, it will take a maximum of 1 week to process your application.
  1. How much will I need to pay for registration?
    • For undergraduate (Foundation/Diploma/Degree) students:
      You need to pay RM53 Processing Fee and RM100 Initial Payment.
    • For postgraduate (Master/PhD) students:
      You need to pay RM212 Processing Fee and RM100 Initial Payment.
  2. How can I make the payment?
    You can transfer the payment online. Please email the bank draft or payment slip once the payment is made.

  3. When should I make the payment?
    You can make the payment once you get the Eligibility Letter/Conditional Offer Letter from us.
  4. How much are the tuition fees for each semester?
    Our fees will be based on semesters and the number of credit hours taken.
  5. How do I apply for IUKL Scholarships?
    IUKL scholarships are automatically awarded to students based on their results. You can check your eligibility by sending us a copy of your results.
  6. Can I get a scholarship and tuition fee waiver at the same time?
    No. IUKL offers Scholarship only for the 1st semester and 50% Tuition Fee Waiver are offered from the 2nd semester onward IF you meet the requirements.
  7. How do I apply for the tuition fee waiver?
    IUKL Tuition Fee Waiver is offered to all its existing students every semester. You need not apply as it is offered automatically based on your semester results. The scheme offers 50% off the semester tuition fee for students who manage to maintain a CGPA of 3.750 and above.
  8. Are there any financial assistance or study loans that I can apply for?
    Yes. You can apply for PTPTN.
  9. How do I apply for PTPTN?
    There are several steps that you need to follow in order to apply. Please refer to the PTPTN website or call our Financial Unit, Student Management Division at 03-89266993 (ext.813) for assistance.

  10. When can I apply for PTPTN?
    Once you have registered with us and received your Offer Letter, you can proceed to apply. For IUKL, the loan only covers our June and October semesters.
    However, take note that there are certain period of time to apply. You can check the date/schedule at www.ptptn.gov.my.
  11. How much will the PTPTN loan cover? What is the maximum amount that I can get?
    This depends on the programme you are taking and also the total household income of your parents.
  12. Do I need to maintain any minimum GPA as a PTPTN recipient?
    Yes. You must maintain at least 2.0 GPA and above every semester.
  1. Are the programmes at IUKL professionally recognised?
    IUKL receives professional recognition from various local and international professional bodies – Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM), Land Surveyors Board (LJT), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), Washington Accord, CISCO, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), among others.
  2. Are the programmes approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)?
    Yes. All programmes offered at IUKL are approved by both the Ministry of Education and MQA.
  3. I am currently working but I would like to study part-time. Do you offer any part-time Diploma/Degree programmes?
    Unfortunately no. Not at this moment.
  4. Do you offer any online courses?
    Unfortunately no. Not at this moment.
  5. I have completed my Diploma in another institution. Can I continue my studies in IUKL and transfer credits from my Diploma?
    Yes, you can continue your studies with us. Send us your full Diploma transcript for further assessment.
  6. I have a Diploma and I have worked for more than 10 years. Can I apply for Masters programme with the working experience that I have?
    You need to have a certificate from the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL). Only then you can apply and enrol with us.
  7. I am a Diploma holder in Engineering. Can I study for a Degree in other courses, say Corporate Communication?
    Yes sure. But you may not get credit exemptions as the subjects taken in your diploma may differ.
  8. I am a Diploma holder in Business. Can I study for a Degree in other courses, say Architecture?
    This depends on the approval of our registrar and the respective faculty. Also note that you may not get credit exemptions as the subjects taken in your diploma may differ. You may need to start from scratch as you do not have the basic of that course.
  9. What happens if I take Foundation in Arts, but after I complete it, I decide to study for a Degree in Engineering. Will I need to take Foundation in Science and start all over again or can I just proceed with my degree?
    Yes, you will need to start over as you cannot change to Degree in Engineering from Foundation in Arts.
  10. I only have 3 credits for my SPM. What course can I apply for?
    You can apply for Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Landscape Architecture and Diploma in Visual & Interactive Media. Other programmes require a higher qualification.
  11. I do not have enough credits in SPM to further my study. Are there any Pre-Diploma programmes that can get me through to Diploma?
    Unfortunately, no. We do not offer Pre-Diploma programmes.
  12. I am not a science stream student. I did not take Physics, Chemistry or Biology. Can I study Foundation in Science?
    Yes, you can. The entry requirement for Foundation in Science is a minimum 5Cs including Mathematics and a Science subject. A credit in General Science is sufficient.
  13. I did not take any drawing subjects in school. Can I pursue a Diploma in Architecture?
    Yes, you will be able to pursue a Diploma in Architecture as long as the minimum requirement of 3Cs including Math and a Pass in English are met.
    However, to replace the drawing subject, you will need to submit a portfolio of 3 drawings. The drawings criteria will be (each to be drawn on a separate A4 paper):

    • Lines (without ruler)
    • Living Object
    • Non-living Object
  14. I am Malaysian but I am interested to pursue the Intensive English Programme (IEP) as I want to improve my English.
    The Intensive English Programme (IEP) is a preparatory programme offered to international students to improve their English before they start their study in university. Malaysian students do not require this course to start the Diploma or Degree programme.
  15. I am not fluent in English. Are there any classes that can help me improve the language? Will I have problems studying if I don’t go for English classes?
    There are no English classes for local students. Though classes will be conducted in English, in time, you will adapt.
  16. Do students have the opportunity to study abroad?
    Yes, students have the opportunity to study abroad. Being affiliated with top-ranking universities in Europe, Australia, Ireland and more, IUKL is your gateway to a world-class education.
  1. I studied at IUKL but I have lost my Diploma/Degree transcript. Can I request for a new copy?
    To request for a new copy from IUKL, you would need to liaise directly with our Registrar’s Office.
  2. I have just started working and my employer wants me to submit my Diploma/Degree Completion Letter as a supporting document. Where can I request a letter of completion for my Diploma/Degree?
    You need to liaise directly with our Registrar’s Office.
  3. I lost my SPM certificate. Can I enrol in any course without my SPM certificate?
    We need you to provide us the SPM certificate. If you have misplaced it, you can go to the education ministry to request for a copy of it. Only then, you can enrol with us.
  1. What is the difference between Foundation and Diploma?
    The foundation programme is to keep your options open if you have not yet made a decision on what programme you want to take for your degree. It is also a faster route to your degree as it only takes 1 year to complete.If you have already decided on what course you want to pursue for your degree, you can opt for diploma. You will be learning in depth about the specific course which may help you in your degree later on. But, a diploma takes longer to complete.
  2. What is the difference between a Bachelor programme with Honours and without?
    Bachelor programmes with honours includes project papers and thesis.
    For a bachelor programmes without honours students are not required to write project papers and thesis. They only need to undergo and concentrate on their industrial training.
  3. Do you provide hostels or accommodation for new students?

  4. I do not have my own transport. Are there any shuttle buses or transport that I can take to attend classes?
    Yes. We do provide shuttle bus service for students. You can view the schedule in our website. Click here.
  5. What is the dress code to attend classes? Are there any restrictions to the attire?
    You can dress casually to attend classes as long as it is presentable.
    However, these attire listed below are not allowed:

    • Shorts, tight and revealing attire
    • Ripped style clothing / Ripped jeans
    • Slippers and flip-flops

International Students

  1. What are the documents needed for application?
    We need to following documents for application:

    • Processing fee of RM3,000/USD790 (correction :RM3100/USD815)
    • INDONESIAN :RM4390/USD1155
    • Application Form
    • 2 photocopies of your PASSPORT (all pages including blank pages). Valid for more than 18 months
    • Passport size PHOTOGRAPH with white background
    • Certified True Copy of: High School Certificate, A-Level, Certificate/Diploma, Degree or equivalent
    • Certified Letter of Completion of study
    • English Proficiency Test Results (e.g.: TOEFL/IELTS)
    • Pre-Medical and X-Ray Report (correction : EMGS pre medical form and lab report)
  2. How long is the application process?
    With complete document submission, the application process would take 4 to 8 weeks.
  3. I have not received my official certificate yet, can I apply?
    You may need to wait until you receive the official certificate for application. (For O level / A level, as long as the issuance date is less than 6 months, we can proceed with the application)
  4. Is there any age limit for enrolment?
    There is no age limit. However, for Nigerians, we only accept those 30 years and below for bachelor’s degree.
  5. Will there be any orientation programme for me?
    Yes, there is an orientation for all new students.
  6. When is the last day for late registration?
    The last day to register is 2 weeks after the class starts or up to 4 weeks depending on the intake and faculty approval.
  7. When should I submit my airport pick up form?
    At least one week before the arrival date. ALL NEW STUDENTS may submit the airport pick up form via this link.
    However, the manual form and email ([email protected]) are still available for those who are unable to access the link provided.
  8. How do I clear myself at the airport?
    Proceed to Immigration counter 55 & 56 (if you arrive at KLIA) and wait until our representative comes. Do not clear yourself.
  9. Will anyone pick me up from the airport?
    Yes, our representative will pick you up from the airport. Contact details will be provided to students / student’s representative.
  10. How soon can I come to Malaysia once I am accepted?
    Once your visa is approved, SEV is obtained, you may start to plan for your travel to Malaysia. Kindly consult our International Marketing Office before purchasing your flight ticket. You may come to Malaysia 2 weeks before the semester starts.
  11. Do I need to bring the original documents for registration
    Yes, it is a MUST for verification purposes.
  12. Do I need to go for a medical check-up after arriving in Malaysia?
    Yes, you need to do the medical check-up within 7 days after arrival.
  13. If I arrive after working hours (after 5.30pm) where should I go?
    Our representative will bring you to your accommodation (if you have booked in advance) and you can come to the Marketing & Communication Office the next day to complete your registration process.
  1. Do I need to have IELTS/TOEFL for enrolment?
    Yes, we need IELTS/TOEFL for enrolment.
  2. In my school, English was the medium of instruction, do I need to provide any English proficiency certificate?
    You may need to provide us written proof from the school stating that the teaching and learning was done in English during submission of application.
  3. Apart from IELTS and TOEFL, what are the other English proficiency certificates accepted by IUKL?
    We accept the following certificates:

  4. I’ve taken IELTS but did not get good results, do I need to resit?
    Yes, you have to resit or else, you may join IUKL’s Intensive English Programme.
  5. Does IUKL have any preparatory programme for IELTS/TOEFL?
    Yes, we do offer Intensive English Programme to prepare students for IELTS/TOEFL.
  6. Who will inform me about the English Placement Test Schedule?
    We will inform you of the schedule upon arrival and the person in charge, Ms Zeena from the Human Science Department, will assist you further
  1. Do I need to pay my fees upon applying to IUKL?
    You may proceed to make payment (visa processing fee payment) once you receive the Eligibility Letter (EL) from IUKL.
  2. How much is the processing fee and when should I make the payment?
    • The processing fee is RM3,000 or USD790. However, for Indonesians students the processing fee is RM4190 or USD1100. You need to pay the processing fee upon receiving the Eligibility Letter (EL) from IUKL. (correction :RM3100/USD815)
    • INDONESIAN :RM4390/USD1155
  3. What is the processing fee for?
    It is for the application processes and visa. The processing fee will be paid to the EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) to process the visa.
  4. Will the processing fee be refunded?
    Unfortunately, no. It will not be refunded.
  5. Do I have to pay the visa fee?
    Yes. Visa fee is part of the processing fee.
  6. Do I need to make any payment apart from the processing fee?
    Once the application process is completed (after receiving Visa Approval Letter), you need to make the initial payment before coming to Malaysia.The initial payment schedules is as follows:

  7. What is the difference between tuition fee and total fee?
    Tuition fee is the payment for the total credit hours you take, meanwhile total fees means the total payment including insurance, etc.
  8. Does the tuition fee include accommodation as well?
    No, it does not include accommodation.
  9. If I get credit exemption, will the tuition fee be lower?
    Yes, less credits means less tuition fee.
  10. Are there any scholarships for International students?

  11. How do I apply for scholarship?
    Scholarship is automatically given upon application depending on your results. There is no need to apply for it.
  1. Will IUKL apply for my visa or do I need to apply for it on my own?
    IUKL will assist to process your visa.
  2. I am currently under student visa at another university, do I need to change my pass if I transfer to IUKL?
    You will need to cancel your student visa at your previous university and IUKL will apply for a new visa for you.
  3. Can I apply to study at IUKL using spouse visa?
    No, you can’t. You will need to change the spouse visa to student visa.
  4. Can I apply using dependent pass?
    Yes, if you are 18 years old or below. However, that will depend on your country of origin as well.
  5. I intend to bring my family together with me. Will IUKL help me to process my family members’ visa?
    IUKL will assist candidate on their dependent visa. But priority will be given to the student. We can only apply for dependent after student successfully received their student pass (not to confuse with visa approval). This is for postgraduate and some undergraduate student depending on the country.
  1. I have a Higher National Diploma (HND), can I apply for a bachelor’s degree programme?
    We will need to refer to your course syllabus to determine the credit transfer eligibility.
  2. I am an arts student, can I apply for a science programme?
    Yes, you can, provided you meet the minimum requirements for the programme.
  3. I have not taken any arts or drawing subject, can I apply for architecture programme?
    Yes, you can! However, you need to provide few drawing samples for our assessment.
  4. I have a degree in business, can I apply for Master in IT?
    Yes, you can! However, you may need to take pre-requisite papers before you can proceed to the Master’s programme.
  5. I have completed my first year at another university overseas, can I transfer to IUKL in the same programme?
    Yes, you can! However, we will need to evaluate your previous academic record to ensure you meet the minimum requirement.
  6. I have completed my first year at another local university, can I transfer to IUKL in the same programme?
    Unfortunately, you can’t!
  7. I have completed my first year at another local university, can I transfer to IUKL in a different programme?
    Yes, you can! However, we will need to evaluate your previous academic record to ensure you meet the minimum requirement.
  8. How many credit hours can I be exempted if I wish to transfer to IUKL?
    The credit exemption depends on your syllabus and results. Hence, we will need your course syllabus and partial transcript for assessment.
  9. Do you have online courses?
    Unfortunately, we do not offer any online courses for now.
  10. Do you have part time programmes for international students?
    Part time studies is only offered to Malaysians.
  11. I am an expat working in Malaysia, can I do part time studies while working?
    Yes, you can! However, you need to get a letter from the Immigration Department of Malaysia stating that you are allowed to study part-time.
  1. Is there any on-campus accommodation?
    Yes, there is.
  2. What is the distance from the hostels to the lecture halls?
    It is a 10 minutes’ walk.
  3. How do I book for accommodation
    Fill in the on-campus accommodation form.
  4. My parents are coming along with me, is there any hotel facilities for parents?
    There are hotels and Airbnb nearby where your parents can stay.
