ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

English language skills is in high demand nowadays. Not only is English the lingua franca across the globe, but companies are also looking for employees who are able to speak and communicate in English. Since the market for those who are able to speak English is high, a lot of people are willing to learn English. Thus, there is a need for competent English language teachers.

The demand for teachers with training in TESOL is very high around the world. Schools and colleges in many areas are urgently looking for both native English speaking teachers (NEST) and non-native English speaking teachers (NNEST) with high-level English language skills.

Is this programme for me?

If you are interested in the teaching profession, this course will enable you to specialise in the teaching of English language to people from all over the world. This course will help you to learn how to plan and deliver English language lessons.

What will I learn?

The programme provides a solid basis for teachers and for developing expertise in a diverse range of English teaching situations. All kinds of teaching and learning activities and also hands-on experience through workshops are incorporated into the programme.

This course has been designed to give a strong foundation in the teaching and learning of English as a second or foreign language. It will equip ESL or EFL teachers with not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical knowledge which will help them become competent ESL or EFL teachers/lecturers at any educational institutions.

A-Level Minimum 2 Principal Passes and a credit in O-Level English
UEC Minimum 5Bs (including English)
Diploma/ HND Minimum CGPA of 2.00
Foundation/Matriculation Minimum CGPA of 2.00
SAM/ HSC/ AUSMAT TER/UAI: average 60% or higher in 5 subjects
CPU/ CIMP Average of 60% or higher in 6 subjects
IB 26 points or higher based on 6 subjects
Other Qualifications As recognised by the Senate of IUKL as equivalent to STPM
* The credit requirement of English at SPM level can be waived should the
grade obtained at STPM/STAM level or its equivalent is higher

How much will I make?

The average salary for fresh graduate is around RM 2,000 to 2,500. But, of course, your salary will also depend on the institution that you work for.

If you go up the institutional ladder or when you reach a higher position, you can earn up to RM20,000 per month.
