ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

Electro-mechanical technology is an important field that has great potential in the industry today.

Also known as mechatronic engineering, this programme combines mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer technology, telecommunications, robotics and control to deliver a unified system.

This area has become the backbone of industries, especially in the manufacturing industry since microprocessors and microcontrollers are used in industrial control.

Is this programme for me?

If you enjoy knowing how machinery works and love to assemble items, then this programme is suitable for you.

Why should I take this programme at IUKL?

The class size here is smaller compared to other institutions. This is an advantage as you would get more attention and guidance from lecturers, plus you will be able to focus and understand better.

What will I learn?

Students will be exposed to a mix of both mechanical and electrical related subjects including electric circuits, analog and digital electronic circuits, electrical machines, instrumentation, microcontrollers, Programmable Logic Controllers, industrial automation, pneumatics, hydraulics and process controls.

This programme focuses more on technical or hands-on skills which is favoured by the industry. You will undergo 6 months practical training in the final semester.

What should I expect?

This programme is designed to produce a skilled workforce in this growing area. It encompasses robust theoretical and practical training to prepare students to face the world of work.

You will be exposed to a whole range of hands-on learning where you will be operating machines and working in labs.

What will I do & who will employ me?

This industry may involve working in all kinds of fields, especially in the manufacturing sector. The job prospects can be in the medical field, food and beverage, workshops, airports, factories and many more.

Is this programme accredited?

Yes, this programme is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Did you know?

  • IUKL is one of the few institutions that offers this programme.
  • Some equipment around us is somehow related to electro-mechanical technology, whether we encounter them daily or watch it on television. Some simple examples are traffic lights, automatic car wash, conveyor belts at the airport or at sushi restaurants, robotic arms, and a lot of other equipment.

Additional info

The courses offered under this programme are mainly assessed on hands-on lab work, reports and assignments which allow students to cultivate the working environment of a technologist, rather than just having the conventional student classroom experience.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO):

The programme objectives are:

PEO1 : Graduates will establish themselves as practising technologies in the electro-mechanical field.

PEO2 : Graduates will engage with lifelong learning in multidisciplinary situations.

PEO3 : Graduates will contribute to sustainable development and well being of society.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLO):
