This Is ME: 25 Stories by 25 Writers

On 28 November 2023, students from Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment organised a book launch event, “This Is ME: 25 Stories by 25 Writers,” which highlights the disabled community’s thoughts and emotions on how they live their lives. The event is a huge success and brilliantly showcases an exhibition where drawings come to life, unveiling the narratives of 25 writers associated with the Beautiful Gate Foundation (Petaling Jaya and Puchong). 

The event plays a crucial role in giving a platform to the disabled community, allowing their voices to be heard. By showcasing the narratives of 25 writers associated with the Beautiful Gate Foundation, it promotes inclusivity and represents a segment of society that is often diminished. This can contribute to breaking stereotypes and fostering a more inclusive society.

Bringing together the writers associated with the Beautiful Gate Foundation, along with the students and attendees of the event, fosters a sense of community. It provides a supportive space for individuals with disabilities to connect with each other and with the broader community. This sense of belonging can have positive effects on mental well-being and overall quality of life.
