Students from MPU 2333 (Semester Sept/Oct 2019) organized a trip to the Cure & Care Vocational Centre (CCVC), Sepang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. The trip’s objectives were: i) to expose IUKL students to the skills CCVC teaches former drug addicts for them to survive and ii) to educate students about the programmes carried out by CCVC to help former drug addicts to enhance social skills.
Fifteen students and two lecturers (Dr. Juliana Rosmidah Jaafar & Miss Nalinah a/p Poongavanam) participated in the programme. The team departed from IUKL at 8.20am and reached CCVC, Sepang at 9.10am. The officer in charge of our visit, Mr Zaidi welcomed us and we were given a briefing on CCVC. The rehab centre specializes in teaching vocational skills to the inmates. Currently, there are 118 inmates in CCVC. After the talk, we were escorted to the area where they have their workstation for electrical, workshop and welding. We also visited the sewing station and bakery. During that time, they were doing their practical, baking brownies and curry puff. Lastly we went to the landscape station before we departed at 12.30pm. We had a great experience visiting CCVC and the warm hospitality of the officer made the trip a very pleasant one.
