ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

Over the last few decades, the use of technology has grown at an amazing pace and most of us are relying on it to support our lives, making things more convenient and interesting. The use of social media, smart phones, tablets and many other advanced digital dairies has made a large impact on the society. With the massive use of gadgets and the internet, communication networks are very much important.

Is this programme for me?

The advancement of technology not only accelerates the growth and changes in the ecosystem of the business world, but students may have deep interest to know the roots of how things work. With a strong interest to know how communication works, students should definitely consider taking up network technology programme.

What will I learn?

This programme will prepare students with skills in operating applications in a broad area of usage, interfacing between public and private networks, and constructing security resolutions for LANs. The programme also provides a CISCO Certification path for students to be better equipped for the next generation of skilled technopreneurs.

What will I do?

You are going to be trained as a computer network support specialist who will be responsible for keeping networks running smoothly. You test, troubleshoot, analyze, perform maintenance, and solve network problems. Every company needs to have at least one Network Engineer to establish the network environment.

To do so, they need formal knowledge to configure the routers and switches. If they have the CCNA certification, it means that they were tested and qualified to handle the equipment. This is the value of the certification and with this, they are considered professional and the scale of the salary they will earn is much more that graduates without the certification.

Additional demand in this field is expected to experience growth over the next few years, including network engineer. Opportunities exist for network engineers in the public and private sectors.

What should I expect?

You will either be working internally as part of an organization’s support team in the IT Department or externally as part of an outsourced IT networking consultancy firm in which, you will be dealing with a number of clients. Depending on the organization you are working with, you may either be working in the office or from home.

STPM Minimum 2 principal passes and a C in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent
Diploma Minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its Diploma/ HND equivalent. Applicants with CGPA above 2.00 and a credit in Mathematics may apply for admission pending internal assessment
A-Level Minimum 2 Principal Passes and a C in O-Level Mathematics

Yes. This programme is embedded with a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) recognition. The CCNA is recognized in the industry as a technical professional working with traditional Cisco-based networks that predominantly include LAN and WAN routers and LAN switches.

CCNA is a category of technical certifications offered by Cisco for early-career networking professionals.

Additional Info

IUKL is one of the CISCO Local Academy Partners since we have physical devices in our lab. Being a partner will benefit us on requesting the certificate of attendance and letter of merit for our students. We give free training to our students plus CISCO professional exam for 4 levels (incorporate into 3 subjects) worth RM13,000. Usually the training duration is a 5 day-course, meaning we are giving a longer duration.

A word of advice

To be successful in this industry, you need to be diligent and able to identify and solve a problem fast. This profession will need you to be prepared for emergencies around the clock. You are responsible to support the network of the organization.
