I chose to further my studies in Accounting because I became interested in this field when I took the subject during my A-Level. I decided to study in IUKL because I was impressed by the counselor I met at the education fair back in my hometown. Besides that, I am attracted to Malaysia as I find it unique and the cost of living here is lower compared to other countries. I am staying in Ikram Lodge which is situated in the middle of the University. It is very comfortable and I am very happy with the location as it is convenient for me to attend my classes daily. I love the food here though some are a little too spicy for me. My favorite would be Telur Bungkus served with white rice. I also love the different types of Nasi Goreng. We don’t have that in our country.
When I first came to IUKL, I had to sign up for the Intensive English Programme (IEP) and luckily I got into Level 3. IEP helped me to prepare well for my IELTS test and thanks to everyone who helped me. I was able to achieve the IELTS score of 6.5. The advice I would like to give to the upcoming students is to take full advantage of the amazing IEP lecturers. Whenever you need help, you can consult them and that is what I liked about IEP.
I chose to further my studies from diploma to degree at IUKL because of the maximum credit transfer earned. I can cut short my studies and at the same time, save on my tuition fee. I took part in a few competitions, such as Business Challenge for Accounting, Accounting Students Conference and Malaysian Accounting Students Convention.
IUKL is developing into a dynamic university which benefits the students as well. We have various food outlets, stationary shop, convenience store and many other that serve the students need. The new academic block is well maintained and the facilities are well taken care of. I am actively involved in the Running Club’s activities. I have took part in the Interfaculty competition 2016, Uniten 20th Anniversary Run, Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2017 and I finished among the Top 3. I also participated in the Road Relay and ended up at 3rd place. These are among the events that I joined with IUKL Running Club.
I enrolled in IUKL in 2013 and graduated in 2016 with the Bachelor of Accountancy degree. I found it very useful and interesting and as a matter of fact, I am currently studying for my Msc. in Accounting at the professional level with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria (ICAN). My stay in IUKL was always filled with friendship, learning, communicating and sharing of ideas. In IUKL you will be drilled to be the best you can. IUKL has contributed to the man I am today as I have learnt to be responsible, firm with decisions and acknowledge my weaknesses and turn it into strengths. Furthermore, IUKL developed my passion for politics as I was given the opportunity to be the President of the International Students Association (ISA), Vice President 1 for the Students Representatives Council (SRC) and also the President of Accounting Club. Potential students should be ready to be drilled as IUKL does not give room for “unserious” students. Focus 100% on your studies and IUKL will give you the platform to be the best you can be. You should abide by all the rules and regulations of the university and complete your study without hindrance. After the completion of my study in IUKL, I returned to my country in 2016 to officially join politics. I won the primary election and that made me the candidate contesting for Oluyole Constituency in the Oyo State Assembly. Furthermore, I can categorically tell you that with patience, determination and dedication you will succeed.
