Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) recently celebrated its 21st Convocation Ceremony—a proud and historic event that honoured nearly 1,000 graduates from over 30 countries. It also marked the university’s first convocation under the leadership of Star Teenagers International Sdn. Bhd., symbolising the dawn of a bold new era for IUKL.
The convocation was more than a graduation—it was a vibrant display of unity, excellence, and global diversity. Students from across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East walked proudly across the stage, cheered on by faculty, family, and friends. The grand academic procession highlighted IUKL’s inclusive spirit, as graduates of various nationalities celebrated together in a shared moment of achievement and joy.

A New Chapter in Leadership and Vision
As part of its transformation, IUKL announced two new members to its Board of Governors: YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai, Member of Parliament for Cheras, and Ir. Choo Kok Beng, President of the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW). Their appointments reflect IUKL’s commitment to strong governance, innovation, and international collaboration.
Delivering a keynote speech, YB Tuan Tan Kok Wai expressed deep honour at his appointment:
“IUKL is a beacon of innovation and transformative education. This role is not only a privilege—it’s a responsibility. I must work to realise the university’s motto: Empowering Humanity and Transforming Knowledge.”
He also shared his personal vision to help IUKL nurture a new generation of impactful leaders:
“I hope to see IUKL produce engineers, school principals and headmasters, CEOs and chairpersons, governors, and public servants who will shape a better future for our nation and the world.”

Celebrating Warmth, Mentorship, and Global Belonging
Beyond academics, IUKL is celebrated for its warmth and inclusivity. International students often speak of the university as a second home—where lecturers offer not only instruction but mentorship, and where students are supported emotionally and personally throughout their journey.
The university’s environment fosters genuine relationships between students and staff, creating a nurturing culture that allows individuals to thrive. This spirit of belonging was deeply felt during the convocation, where graduates stood united in joy and gratitude, proud of their shared accomplishments.

A Guiding Philosophy for Lifelong Success
Under the leadership of newly appointed Chairman Professor Chen Xiaoyun, IUKL is embracing a transformative educational philosophy. Professor Chen emphasises that true success depends on three key factors: the presence of mentors, a nurturing environment, and personal standards of excellence. This philosophy now shapes IUKL’s mission to develop well-rounded, purpose-driven graduates.
President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ts. Dr. David Ngo Chek Ling echoed this vision:
“Our motto, ‘For Knowledge, For Humanity,’ is more relevant than ever. In a world shaped by AI and climate change, your education is not just a personal achievement—it’s a responsibility to serve humanity. Discover your ikigai—your reason of being; the intersection of your passion, skills, and the world’s needs.”

Looking Forward
IUKL is introducing new initiatives to support graduates through upskilling programmes, entrepreneurship training, and global networking opportunities. Alumni are encouraged to become ambassadors of the IUKL brand, fostering growth not only for themselves but also for their communities and countries
