An educational visit to Muzium Warisan Melayu which is located at Universiti Putra Malaysia was organised on two different dates (23rd January 2020 & 6th February 2020) involving students from Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1 (MPU 2133) & Bahasa Kebangsaan A (MPU 2213).
The objective of this visit was to expose the students to the heritage of the Malay community. The students got an opportunity to learn about the traditional costumes, weapons, household appliances, Malay manuscripts and traditional Malay houses found in Malaysia. It is interesting to note that the weapons are not only used for battle and to defend oneself. Some of the weapons are also used to complement their attire; especially, for the men’s clothing where they use the Keris.
During this fruitful visit, the students seemed to be excited about the arts and the greatness of the Malay legacy which was displayed in the museum. The students also gained some knowledge about the Malays’ cultural customs which were practiced a long time ago.
