In a compelling and future-focused address, YBrs. Professor Ts. Dr. David Ngo Chek Ling, President and Vice-Chancellor of Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), urged graduates to lead with purpose, adapt to change, and embrace the technologies shaping tomorrow. Speaking at IUKL’s 21st Convocation on 24 May 2025, he reminded graduates that their learning journey is just beginning—and that the most important skill to master now is Artificial Intelligence.

“The one skill everyone needs to learn is how to use AI,” he said, quoting entrepreneur Mark Cuban: “AI is going to be a big part of our lives. Those who understand it and can leverage it will have a big advantage.”
Professor Dr. Ngo emphasized IUKL’s commitment to equipping students with future-ready capabilities. He outlined ambitious plans for the university’s growth under Star Teenagers International Sdn. Bhd., including the launch of new doctoral programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Digital Arts and AI Networks, New Energy Vehicles, and Augmented Reality in Education and Healthcare. These initiatives, he noted, are designed to position IUKL as a hub for innovation, digital learning, and global collaboration.

Congratulating the newly appointed Chancellor, YBrs. Professor Chen Xiaoyun, he expressed confidence in Professor Chen’s vision and leadership to steer IUKL forward in the areas of education, innovation, and partnership. “We look forward to his guidance as we enter this exciting chapter,” he said.
Addressing the graduates directly, Professor Dr. Ngo reminded them that they are not merely witnesses to IUKL’s transformation—they are part of it. “You are the reason IUKL keeps moving forward,” he said. “Carry with you not only the knowledge you’ve gained, but the spirit that brought you here.”

The ceremony, held at Bangi Avenue Convention Centre, celebrated the achievements of 933 graduands, including 349 Malaysians and 584 international students from 31 countries. With Nepal, China, and Somalia among the top contributors, the university’s global diversity was proudly on display. The most subscribed programmes this year included the MBA, Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours), and Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies.
Professor Dr. Ngo also acknowledged IUKL’s partnerships with Executive College and iCATS University College in Kuching, and with Nepal’s Sunway International Business School and Himalayan College of Management—partnerships that extend IUKL’s impact beyond borders.
Closing his address, he encouraged graduates to discover their ikigai—their reason for being—at the intersection of passion, skill, purpose, and value. “In this era of rapid change, the world needs your courage, creativity, and compassion. Embrace your role not just as professionals, but as leaders, innovators, and changemakers.”
“For knowledge, for humanity—go forth and make a difference.”
