Hi, my name is Harith Hazwan, a graduate of Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies) from March 2020 semester. It was a tough time for me when the Covid 19 pandemic started right after the completion of my degree. I came across an advert on television for the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), a government programme to provide employment opportunities for those affected by the economic crisis. I sought for more information about PENJANA and was attracted to a series of training programmes that is related to my degree. I was lucky to be chosen as a participant for the training programme by CIDB – Part 1: CIDB Construction Site Supervisor (Building & Architectural) from 7th September to 19th September 2020. Upon completion of the 12-day training, each participant was given an allowance of RM600. We were then offered to continue with the Part 2 and again another interview session was conducted. This Part 2: Pentauliahan Penyelia Tapak Binaan took 3 months to complete, from 24th October 2020 to 30th January 2021.
Each participant or intern was placed at a construction company. An allowance of RM1,300 monthly was given by CIDB. On top of it, I also received another allowance from the company where I was attached to. The Part 2 was a hands on training which we were required to involve in the real projects as a Site Supervisor. The sites that I supervised were at Nilai, Sepang, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Puncak Alam. Before I completed my internship, I was offered a permanent position by my superior. I just grabbed it because I realize that it is not easy to find a job nowadays. During my interview for the Part 2 training programme, I showed my portfolios of the interior designs that I have done and the superiors liked them very much. On 1st February 2021, I started my work as Head of Interior Design cum Site Supervisor at MKK Rekabina, Seksyen 7, Bandar Baru Bangi.
