Singapore has hosted the largest and most anticipated night marathon. From 31st of May to 1st of June 2013, the 6th edition of the Sundown Marathon 2013 was kicked off. Through the weekend, with the theme “Show Your True Colours”, 30,000 runners went to Singapore’s F1 Pit Building to share their love and passion for running in the 10km, Half Marathon (21km) and Full Marathon (42.195km) categories. Many made new friends, achieved new personal best records, scaled new heights and showed their ‘True Colours’.
IUKL participated in the Full Marathon (42.195km) category. From dusk to dawn, runners ran past some of the most idyllic and iconic landmarks in Singapore; the Marina Bay Sands, The Merlion, Singapore Flyer, and Suntec City against the backdrop of Singapore’s night sky. The journey to the finish line was long and gruelling, but we did it. Congratulations to IUKL on crossing the finish line at the 6th instalment of the Sundown Marathon. It was a long night with many weary runners completing what many label as a ‘not so easy’ marathon. The sense of satisfaction and fond memories of this special night race will remain with all participants for a long time.
If you want to win something, run 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.” ~ Emil Zatopek, Czech runner; winner of four Olympic gold medals
