Protasco Berhad Celebrates 10 Years of Achievements

On 15 November 2013, Protasco Berhad (parent company of IUKL) celebrated its 10th year anniversary as a public listed company at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. The theme for the dinner; “Glamorous”, was attended by YBhg. Tan Sri Hadenan A. Jalil, the Chairman of Protasco Berhad, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Ir. Chong Ket Pen, the Managing Director of Protasco, board of directors along with over 1300 staff representing all of the company’s subsidiaries.

The event began with a welcoming speech by Puan Marina Jaal, the General Manager of the Corporate Communications Department, followed by Dato’ Sri Ir. Chong Ket Pen. In his speech, Dato Sri shared that “It all began with a dream to start an organization that is world class, a one-stop integrated infrastructure solutions provider and that dream came true the day Protasco was listed ten years ago”. He added that his dream is to see the company listed in the Billion Dollar Club in terms of market capitalization. A few of Protasco’s achievements within its ten years of existence were also highlighted during the dinner. These included the Achievers Award in the 2005 SMB Recognition Award, HCM Engineering Sdn Bhd being voted as the No. 1 in the maiden Malaysian Emerging Knowledge Organisation (MEKO) Award as well as the Human Capital Development Award in 2004.

A token of appreciation was presented to the former Director of Protasco Trading, YBhg. Datin Doris Yap for her contributions towards the company. In her absence, the Independent Non-Executive Director of Protasco; YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Nor received the token on her behalf. Subsequently, Dato’ Sri also presented a RM50,000 cheque to the Melaka Monfort Boys School during the dinner as part of Protasco Berhad’s CSR programme. The money would be used to build a bakery at the Monfort Boys School for their programme to teach baking skills.

Throughout the night, Protasco staff feasted themselves on a sumptuous dinner, and enjoyed engaging singing and dance performances, as well as lucky draws. The emcee that night, Melvin Aeria announced the Mr. and Mrs. Glamorous which was won by En. Zulkarnain Abdul Latif and Ms. Ratanavelli Palanivelu.

The Gala Dinner was a memorable event for all the staff who stayed until the end of the event which concluded at around midnight.
