On 11 September 2013, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), through its Research Management Centre (RMC), organised its 3rd Infrastructure University Innovation and Invention Competition (IUIIC 2013). The event was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
The annual exhibition and competition showcased inventions from more than 40 institutions of higher learning and schools. There were more than 70 entries for the competition.
IUIIC 2013 was initiated by RMC to stimulate, inculcate, and harness innovation and invention among academic communities in Malaysia. This is to encourage and inspire inventors from both secondary and tertiary levels. The slogan ‘Explore – Innovate – Invent – Solve’ aimed to identify products that can be selected to compete at the national and international levels.
One of the entries from the Faculty of Creative Media and Innovative Technology (FCMIT), formerly known as the Faculty of Information and Computing Technology (FICT), won a gold medal for their ‘Q4U Virtual Queuing System’ invention as well as receiving the title of ‘Best Booth’ under the university category. In addition, IUKL bagged four silver medals and nine bronze medals.
