In 2012, the Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) was upgraded to a full-fledged university, and renamed as the Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL). With this milestone, IUKL organized its Inaugural Convocation Ceremony as a University. The 11th Convocation Ceremony on 7 September 2013.
More than 800 graduates received their Master, Bachelor, and Diploma scrolls from YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Dr. Wan Abdul Rahman Haji Wan Yaacob, the Chancellor of IUKL. Held at the Multipurpose Hall, the event was also witnessed by YBhg. Academician Dato’ Ir. Dr. Lee Yee Cheong AO, the Pro-Chancellor of IUKL; YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Hadenan Jalil, the Chairman of the board of Governors; Professor Dr. Zulkifli Abdul Hamid, the Executive Director of Education, parents, representatives from the embassies and distinguished guests.
The graduation ceremony was held in three (3) sessions. The first session started with the procession of students and academic staff followed by the grand procession led by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Dr. Wan Abdul Rahman Haji Wan Yaacob into the hall. He conferred the Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees to the postgraduate and undergraduate students. He also presented the Chancellor’s Award and the Vice Chancellor’s Awards to the top students.
The Chancellor’s Award recipient was Desmond David Vincent, [Bachelor of Arts in English for Professional Communication (Hons)], and the Vice Chancellor’s Award Recipients were Reda Mohamed Omer, [Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons)], Lee Su San, [Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Corporate Communication], Tan Kun Jui, (Diploma in Civil Engineering), and Mohd Surfaedzly Suratno, (Diploma in Corporate Communication).
