KUCHING: International College of Advance Technology Sarawak (iCATS) diploma graduates will have the opportunity to further their studies in the second year of bachelor degree programmes following the signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Infrastructure University of Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) yesterday.
Under the MOU, iCATS diploma graduate will undergo their graduate programme in IUKL in civil and mechanical engineering courses.
The collaboration will bring forth excellence by providing students the opportunity to pursue their higher studies, iCATS chief executive officer Baharudin Abdullah said.
This will also enable a smart partnership where iCATS can seek advice concerning programmes and curriculum development while at the same time establishing a long term relationship in academic activities,” said Baharudin.
He added that since iCATS’ establishment in 2002, the college has trained thousands of higher national diploma and diploma holders with an extensive choice of programmes to enable students to explore their interest and potential in academic or skills training.
“We believe by giving everyone the opportunity to develop coupled with our skills based programmes, students are given the chance to take the next step into higher academic qualification,” he said.
The MOU is proof of iCATS’ commitment to train and produce a large and competent workforce for the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), he added.
IUKL president and vice-chancellor Professor Dr RoslanZainalAbidin represented IUKL in signing the MOU which was witnessed by iCATS president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Datuk Husain.
