ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
In today’s technologically advanced society, visual and interactive media are among the most popular fields of study in IT and Creative Media for its interesting range of subjects and career prospects. In addition to that, this area has become increasingly crucial to businesses which increases the opportunities in this field.
Is this programme for me?
This programme is suitable for those creative people who are interested in designing, manipulating and composing multimedia elements (text, image, video, audio and animation) in order to produce a new graphic design, production, multimedia application or presentation.
What should I expect?
This programme equips students with the capabilities to work as visual and interactive media designers across traditional media and digital tools in a wide range of practices, from creative publishing to interaction design, leading projects from the conceptual stage to publication.
Visual and interactive media designers play a crucial role in shaping the look and feel of visual media, and the ways people experience them. Students will be equipped with the necessary knowledge in creative and hands-on practical experience in all aspects of communication technology that is characterized as innovative in approach.
What will I learn?
Apart from basic computing subjects, students will learn about and practice to use multimedia authoring tools such as Adobe applications (Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver etc) to edit various media accordingly to create multimedia presentation, simple games, information kiosks, animation, websites, short films and many other interactive applications.
What are the career prospects?
This programme is designed to produce skilful graduates in Visual and Interactive Media. With added knowledge in entrepreneurial and technical skills, these graduates can either get employed or pursue their bachelor’s degree. Students are encouraged to go for internship to complement their theoretical knowledge and enhance soft skills.
Graduates can begin working in various industries such as multimedia design and development, graphic design, web design, advertisement, entertainment production etc.

Certificate | SKM Level 3 / Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) (Note: The HEPs are to conduct screening and provide necessary guidance specific to the discipline of the programme; OR
A Certificate (Level 3, MQF) with minimum CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent; OR Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government AND Pass an interview OR submission of student’s portfolio determined by the HEP as required |
