ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Architecture is not limited to buildings only, it can go beyond that.

Through this programme, students will be equipped with knowledge, vital technical skills, techniques and excellent communication skills, vital to becoming a good landscape architect in the future.

Is this programme for me?

Maybe you could ask yourselves:

  • Are you creative?
  • Are you into art and drawings?
  • Are you a curious and self-expressive individual?
  • Are you interested in the development of things outside such as parks, recreational facilities and open-spaces?

If you have these criteria, Landscape Architecture is the course for you.

What will I learn?

Students will have the opportunity to design a variety of outdoor spaces. Through their design, students can transform spaces to places that show and identify appropriate functions and purposes for the specific users in mind.

Plant elements, building materials and its components are rightly incorporated in the landscape design in the process.

Learning is effectively accomplished through lectures, discussions, observation and hands-on experience on numerous live projects. Students will experience outdoor site trips throughout the course. A compulsory Landscape Industrial Training caps off the learning experience of the student.

What should I expect?

This programme provides a strong foundation in planning, designing, managing and implementing aspects of landscape, both in the man-made and natural outdoor environments.

Students will be equipped with requisite practical skills, knowledge and creativity so that they are competent in developing a sustainable environment and possibly transforming a space to a place.

Did you know?

Do you know the origin of the word ‘Landscape’?

Landscape was originally a painting term in the 17th century from the Dutch word ‘landschap’ which means “land” or region, and “scap” which means ship or condition. In 1886, a more familiar interpretation of the German word landschaft came into common usage to denote a “tract of land with its distinguishing characteristics”.

“The seeds we sow today will grow to serve as shades for weary travelers tomorrow”

- Nike Thaddeus
