On 29th August 2024, the IUKL Malaysian Society and Cultural & Diversity Unit organised the vibrant IUKL Semarak Merdeka 2024 event, hosted near Block 11. This special occasion was held in honour of Malaysia’s 67th Independence Day, celebrated annually on 31st August. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dato’ Dr. Noor Inayah Ya’akub, President and Vice Chancellor of IUKL, alongside other respected members of the institution’s top management.
The day began with an exhilarating marching performance by representatives from various departments and faculties, filling the air with enthusiastic chants of ‘Merdeka!’ As the performances concluded, the entire crowd stood in unison to sing Negaraku, the Malaysian national anthem.
A standout moment of the celebration was the Merdeka Car Decoration showcase, where participants displayed their creativity by decorating their cars, beautifully showing their patriotic spirit. These decorations featured symbols such as the hibiscus and tiger, Malaysia’s national flower, and animal, respectively, creating an inspiring atmosphere that was both captivating and heartwarming. Simultaneously, a batik painting event was held at the Student Hub in Block 11. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. Your participation made it truly remarkable, and we hope this celebration will remain etched in your memory as one of the most unforgettable events of the year. Congratulations to all the winners, and we eagerly anticipate your involvement in our upcoming events.
