In this program, students from LANG0056 (Introduction to Psychology) organised an event that focused on educating the public on mind awareness. With the theme, healthy mind and healthy lifestyle, the objective of this event was i) to create awareness among IUKL students on the coping strategies to overcome stress and ii) to educate IUKL students on the importance of positive networking that could help to improve an individual’s well-being.
The event conducted on 30 January 2020 at Gallery, Block 11 started at 8.30am with an opening ceremony by Miss Nalinah Poongavanam the Director of Centre of Foundation and General Studies (CFGS). The event continued with a professional talk by Mr Mohammad Amin (IUKL counsellor) titled “Positive Mind, Positive Vibes and Positive Life”. Participants were given hands on exercise on how to maintain their positive mind as university students. After the talk, the participants continued with the treasure hunt. In the treasure hunt, they were challenged with obstacles related to the mind, brain, mental and their focus level. This event continued till the evening. This time, Madam Nadiah Nordin (IUKL counsellor) took to the stage with a game using Metaphoric Card. In this game, each participant is given a card for the ice breaking activity. Students were later given the opportunity to express themselves and talk with the other participants during the session. Besides games, there were photo booths and a games corner for those who didn’t join the talk in the gallery. The event ended at 5.00pm.
