The Department of Civil Engineering and Construction, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) organized a talk titled A Case Study on Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) & Challenges Working as a Traffic/Transportation Engineer. The talk was held on Monday, 6th September 2021, via the Microsoft Team platform. 59 students taking the following courses; Traffic & Transportation Engineering, Laboratory Traffic, Highway Engineering, Transportation Planning and High-Rise Design, attended the talk. The invited speaker, Mr. Omar A. Mohsen M., graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from UCSI University in 2016.
Omar is from Istanbul, Turkey, and has been in the profession for almost three years in Malaysia. He is responsible for project management and delivery involving planning, tracking, and delivering multiple traffic impact assessments (TIA) and traffic studies. He is also a registered graduate engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM), Engineers Australia (EA) and is a graduated member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Now he is a Traffic Engineer / Associate Consultant at MDS Consultancy Group in Selangor. During the talk, he demonstrated his experience with one of the case studies in the traffic impact assessment (TIA) project. Besides that, he gave some tips and advice for those students who are in their final semester. The talk was very informative and insightful for the IUKL students, especially for Bachelor of Civil Engineering with honours students.
